Who We Are

The Mineworkers Union of Namibia (MUN) is one of Namibia’s most influential trade unions, established in 1986 during the latter era of colonial rule. Affiliated with the National Union of Namibian Workers (NUNW) and aligned with SWAPO, MUN represents workers in mining and related industries. Membership approximately 10 000 in 2025, and it has grown since.

Our mission is to organize, defend, and protect the rights and interests of our members, while educating them on their rights and obligations. We also strive to maintain close cooperation and solidarity among Mineworkers and with other industrial unions and federations, both within Namibia and beyond.
